What role do theories play in epistomology?

I think theories play a huge role in epistomology, just think about it. Epistomolgy is how we know what we know and what we know either science or religion all circles back to theory. If there were no theories, then there would be no epistomology.

I agree with Jake that theories play a huge role in epistomology. Theory is an important process in experimentation. What we know and how we know it is derivative of the theories we think of. Theory is the beginning stage of epistomolgy realy, because to theorize is to think of an idea, apply it, and then gain knowledge.
